Meet Zoe Hsu, Data Scientist & Machine Learning Engineer at Lasa Health!

At Lasa Health, we’re on a mission to transform how chronic pelvic pain is understood and managed through advanced AI technology. One of the team members driving this mission is Zoe Hsu, Data Scientist & Machine Learning Engineer, who combines deep technical expertise with a passion for women’s health innovation.

Zoe has a Master’s in Data Science from New York University and joined the Lasa Health team in 2024. Since joining, Zoe has been the driving force behind the development of our Clinical Decision Support (CDS) system, created in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Platform_Accelerate program. Using a large-scale datasets of over 10 million patient records, Zoe has built and validated machine learning models covering more than 25 chronic pelvic pain–related conditions, including endometriosis, dysmenorrhea, celiac disease, and cervical cancer.

Through rigorous model design, feature engineering, and cross-validation, Zoe achieved state of the art performance across multiple diagnostic categories, demonstrating the robustness and clinical relevance of her models. Her attention to data quality also led to the development of a proprietary data conversion tool, expanding Lasa’s usable dataset by millions of records.

Zoe’s latest work focuses on deploying and testing the CDS system’s integration with the Epic electronic health record (EHR) - a key milestone toward bringing Lasa’s AI insights directly into clinical workflows. This integration will empower healthcare providers with timely, data-driven recommendations for earlier and more accurate diagnosis of complex chronic pain conditions.
