About the Study

Endometriosis diagnosis takes too long, and too many women face invasive tests, misdiagnoses, or unanswered questions. The EMMA Study is here to change that—but we need your help to make it happen!

Eligibility: Women aged 18-50, with or without endometriosis.

  • Have endometriosis? Your experience can help us create better, faster diagnostic tools and personalized treatments.

  • Don’t have endometriosis? We still need you! Understanding a wide range of experiences is crucial to improving diagnosis and treatment.

How it works

  • Donate a one-time blood sample (three small tubes) at a nearby location.

  • Log your symptoms using the Lasa Health app over six months. This helps researchers uncover patterns and gives you valuable health insights.

  • Compensation ranges from $75 to $125 based on your participation. You’ll also receive free access to Lasa Health Premium during the study period.

  • Complete a short survey to see if you qualify. If eligible, a research coordinator will contact you to explain the study and answer your questions.

  • Fill out a 20–30 minute survey about your health background. This helps researchers better understand your experience!

  • Upload your medical records to confirm a diagnosis or share additional context. Your records are vital for advancing the study!

We aim to change this by developing new tools that use advanced science, like genetics, blood markers, and symptom tracking, to identify endometriosis earlier and provide treatment plans that are personalized to each individual.   • Endometriosis Multimodal Management Application (EMMA)

  • We are recruiting two groups:

    • Cases: Women with a confirmed diagnosis of endometriosis.

    • Controls: Women without endometriosis.

    If you’re interested, the first step is to complete a short eligibility survey!

  • This study is funded by ARPA-H’s Sprint for Women’s Health Initiative,a program designed to accelerate innovation and improve women’s health outcomes.

  • Yes, this study has been approved by Pearl IRB, ensuring that it meets ethical standards for research involving human participants. The Principal Investigator (PI) leading this study is Idhaliz Flores, PhD, a leading researcher in the field of endometriosis.

  • Yes, safeguarding your personal health information is our top priority. We adhere strictly to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, ensuring that all your data is handled with the utmost confidentiality and security.

  • Participation is completely voluntary. You can withdraw from the study at any time without any consequences. Upon withdrawal, we will remove your data and destroy your blood samples.
